OUR PRINCIPALS

James Deater, Jr.

James Deater is a highly-decorated 28-year veteran of the Maryland State Police, 20 of which he spent in the Homeland Security and Intelligence Bureau. He investigated large-scale national and international drug trafficking organizations, homicides and gangs.

Deater has authored well over 100 wiretaps, co-authored an additional 25 and has been assigned as case manager on more than 20 additional cases where wiretaps were utilized. He has been deputized by the FBI, DEA, U.S. Customs (ICE/HSI) and the U.S. Marshals Service. He also regularly testifies as an expert witness in the fields of electronic surveillance, wiretaps, cell phone/smart phone counter-measures, drones/UAV’s and Social media in State and Federal court systems. He has taught his acquired skills to members of numerous State Police agencies, the FBI, FBINAA, DEA, HSI, CBP, TSA and numerous local departments throughout the United States as well as the countries of Dubai, Prague, Czech Republic and Brazil.

James has also taught police executives on local, state and federal levels. James holds a B.A. Intelligence Studies and a M.A. National Security Studies along with numerous law enforcement related certifications.

Jason Merritt

Jason Merritt A 28-year veteran of the Maryland State Police, 20 of which he spent in the Criminal Investigation Bureau. During his time in the Criminal Investigation Bureau, he investigated large scale domestic drug organizations, homicides, gangs, money laundering, homicides, theft/fraud, and internal investigations.

The FBI and DEA have deputized him to assist with large cases that spanned nationwide. He was also a certified police instructor and has taught court room testimony, warrants and affidavits, undercover operations, evidence collection, interview and interrogation, criminal informant handling, and other criminal investigation courses to local and state allied agencies.  He participated in numerous wiretap investigations and acted as the Lead Case Agent on countless major investigations. He has testified as an expert witness in local and state court systems for drug investigations and drug identification. He has specialized skills in covert physical and electronic surveillance and has conducted surveillance nationwide on countless occasions.

He also is known for his ability to carry out successful interviews and interrogation of suspects and witnesses and is often called upon by other investigators to handle these tasks on difficult cases. He is familiar with court procedures in both state and federal court systems.

Dewayne Adams

Dewayne Adams has over 25 years experience in the technology industry with focus on hardware and software design and systems integration. He has designed systems that is used by Fortune 500 companies, the Department of Defense, and the Intelligence Community.

His focus on mission-centric solutions with targeted security technologies have allowed multiple products to achieve NIAP certification status for use in multiple-domain installations. He developed scalable computing infrastructures that are used in scientific modeling applications. His designs are used from corporate offices to tactical theatres of operation. He developed unique testing automation to simulate operational use of the platforms during manufacturing providing a dramatic improvement in deployment failures.

He holds multiple patents on methods to secure devices, protect data intrusion, and human-machine interaction. His specialties include large-scale data optimization, secure data strategies and operations, communications systems, process development, and divergent systems integration. Dewayne has lead teams in engineering, testing, automation, manufacturing, and deployment.
